I had been on leave for about of months before any idea that I should, not return to Hong Kong and therefore had largely made arrangements for returning to Hong Kong after three monks Extension
of leave. It is a great hardship to remain on leave in England recruiting
oner health and preparing for further duties in Hong Kong and then after 9 months to be informed that your devrices are no further required, this is
expecially hard in the case of
a married man.
Had I known when leaving Hong Kong
on leave that
should not again return "it would have saved very
considerable expense.
During the whole time I have, in Hong Kong I have not spared time or money to improve the Paritary. -condition of the Colony, quite beyond the duris layed down by the government for the Official positions
which
have held, this can be seen
the
very
expensive models made at own experse and are. at present deposited on loan in the
loan in the Hong Kong
4. Further that I took a
Hong Kong mussion
very active part in the formation and
working of the Ang Kong tranch of the Royal Sanitary Institute whereby a large number of Government servants and others were al to sit for Examination and gain Certificates prome
the Institute.
I attach newspaper reports of this work which
contain speeches from
Pir Matthew Nathan.
The present Gouna. Iir Frederick Lugard.
K Hon Dr Atkinson.
